In a conversation with his friend and former wife, Nisa Ra (mother of the wonder child Muhammida), she thanked him for writing Mythology because it helps deconstruct the term pussy that confounds so many people--imagine, she said, people write this word on the wall as if it is something dirty and nasty. Some years ago my son Marvin chided me for fighting to teach at Fresno State University. He said, "Dad, you should have been at home with us." At first my thought was, "Son, if I hadn't been fighting maybe you would not have been able to attend Fresno State!" But Nisa said the boy was not all wrong. What was the fight all about but family! Slavery destroyed the family, the purpose of revolution was to restore the family unit. We got it wrong in the 60s, freedom became something abstract and families were neglected, especially by the men.
