Update: The Pan African Mental Health Peer Group
This week Dr. M's Pan African Mental Health Peer Group was held at Berkeley City College and Oakland's Merritt College. Both sessions took place in Suzzette Johnson's Diversity class which uses How to Recover from the Addiction to White Supremacy as a textbook. Since both classes are multiracial, it gave Dr. M a chance to experiment with a largely non-black audience. Apparently his 13 Step Model was successful since he was applauded at the end of the session and students came up to shake his hand. When one student at Merritt College suggested he give out free copies of the latest edition of his book, Dr. M did exactly that and was immediately surrounded by students seeking his autograph.
The next session of the Pan African Mental Health Peer Group is Saturday, March 1, 4pm, at 1425 Oregon Street, Berkeley, off Sacramento Street. Call 510-355-6339. The session is limited to twenty persons, so please call to reserve a space. Dr. M's new email is jmarvinx@yahoo.com.
